**Please note these positions are funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program for students ONLY. You must just be finishing/just have finished FULL-TIME school courses and be returning to school FULL-TIME in September. Please provide details for that in your cover letter.**

Your schedule will be 6:15 am – 2:45 pm Monday – Friday and includes a half-hour unpaid lunch break and a 15 minute paid afternoon break. We are closed on stat holidays. You have to be a morning person to work this shift as it is busy from the start and you cannot be late for work.

It is not a complicated job but is a physical position that requires being on your feet, regular heavy lifting and being able to move at a good pace.

It is an entry-level job in a fast-paced environment.

Suitable applicants will be interviewed over the telephone before starting training. Position is with a very busy mattress and furniture recycling facility located on Annacis Island (Delta, BC).

We are accessible by transit and also have free parking.

Responsibilities include:
Unloading delivery trucks of used or defective mattresses and furniture and loading outbound shipments of salvaged materials; dismantling mattresses and furniture using various methods and tools; properly sorting components for recycling; keeping work area/ warehouse clean; following ALL operating and safety procedures and policies, including wearing a respirator (which we provide); meeting realistic quotas and expectations for volume of material processed; baling reclaimed materials and operating recycling machinery.

– steel-toed slip-proof boots, physically fit is an asset and able to lift 70 pounds.
– hard-working, efficient, safety-conscious, able to work independently without supervision.
– honest, punctual, responsible, reliable, and a team player.
– minimum quotas for processing must be met at all times after training period.
– you may be asked to provide a current criminal record check. We also may do online public court record checks.

**Wearing a respirator (which we provide) is absolutely required, no exceptions as per WorkSafeBC.**

We provide all training and all personal protective equipment (other than boots). $13/hr.

Part-time work may be available to you after the summer if you request it.
