Vancouver Public Library (VPL) is seeking a creative, innovative and public service oriented Web Librarian to join the Digital Services Team on a six-month contract. The Vancouver Public Library website is our flagship communication channel, with over 5 million visits a year. The website highlights our services and collections, and ensures that we provide a seamless and positive user experience. We also maintain a strong social media presence which aims to educate and excite patrons and showcase the full range of resources the library offers.

The Position
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Web Services, you will plan and implement changes to existing library websites, develop new website content, conduct user experience tests, and work with stakeholders to develop new pages and features on the site. Other responsibilities include: leading small projects, participating in the assessment of web content performance using tools like Google Analytics, and providing troubleshooting services to the public and staff. You will work collaboratively with other members of the Digital Services team as well as with colleagues system-wide to achieve VPL’s strategic priorities across the library system.

Qualifications and Experience
This position requires communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively and thorough knowledge of current trends and best practices in the use of technology in delivering web-based public library services. We are looking for an innovative, flexible individual with a demonstrated ability to develop positive working relationships, manage multiple projects and competing priorities, and who is open to change.
Qualifications include an MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA accredited post-secondary institution and course work or professional development activities related to web development, human-computer interactions and user experience.
