This position is covered by the Collective Agreement between the District of Stewart and CUPE Local 1804. The current rate as of January 1, 2020 for this position is between $28.15/hr and $34.30/hr dependant on qualifications
THE DISTRICT OF STEWART is currently seeking applications for One (1) Water and Wastewater Operator:
Dependant on qualifications, this position will fall under one of the following three classifications:
Heavy Equipment Operator: responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy mobile equipment (Graders, Loaders, Plow Trucks, etc.) for the purposes of road maintenance, water/sewer operations, snow clearing as well as the performance of manual duties such as: snow removal, sidewalk clearing, drainage ditch maintenance, and other duties as assigned from time to time.
Light Equipment Operator: responsible for the safe and efficient operation and minor maintenance of light mobile equipment (Plow Trucks, Garbage Truck, Sweeper, Skid Steer, Hydro-Vac, etc.), water/sewer operations as well as the performance of manual duties such as: snow removal, sidewalk clearing, drainage ditch maintenance, and other duties as assigned from time to time.
Labourer: responsible for, drainage ditch maintenance, brush clearing, grass cutting, road marking, pipe laying, shoveling, building repair, pavement repair, concrete work, sidewalk repair, street sign maintenance, display light maintenance, water/sewer operations, and other duties as assigned from time to time.
- Applicants must be able to legally work in Canada and over 18
- Grade 12 Education or equivalent
- Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Level 1 Certificates
- Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement or better
- Proven ability to follow direction, self motivation to finish tasks and address what needs attention.
- Safe work attitude
- Experience with public works functions, including roads, water, wastewater, and facility maintenance
- Experience with the use and maintenance of public works tools and equipment
- First Aid Certification
- Confined Space Experience/Training
