Utilities Assistant – Water Quality

(STUDENT/SEASONAL – 4 MONTH TERM)

We have an upcoming opening for the student/seasonal position of Utilities Assistant – Water Quality. The successful candidate will have a Grade 12 Diploma, be enrolled in or a recent graduate of a post-secondary program in environmental studies or water science, and hold a valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence. Previous work in a lab or in a position with field experience are considered assets.

You are detail oriented, have excellent customer service skills, and are physically capable of working in adverse conditions (heat/noise/outdoor conditions). You can aptly communicate information and understand directions from verbal and written instructions. You work well as part of a team, as well as on your own.

Reporting to the Manager, Water Quality, the Utilities Assistant – Water Quality is responsible for monitoring, sampling, and analyzing raw and treated water. Duties will also include maintenance and calibration of equipment and assisting with the Cross Connection Control program.

This is a full-time, seasonal position (40 hours/week) from approximately January 5, 2021 to April 30, 2021 with the possibility of an additional 4 month summer term. The wage is $16.44 per hour plus 16% in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays, and all other benefits. Hours of work and work days may vary.
