Temporary Full Time

The Engineering Parks and Environment department requires a temporary, full-time Technical Assistant 1 for approximately one year.
Working with other team members, you will be responsible for the review and interpretation of engineering drawings of City infrastructure and services such as storm, sanitary, water, roads and bridges. You will liaise with a variety of other departments to verify drawing information is correct, as well as entering information into an asset management system. You will perform field inspections of engineering infrastructure and assist in the administration of engineering deposits.
You may have completed courses in Civil Engineering leading to a related diploma or degree, or a combination of related experience and education. You will have work experience preferably in a municipal engineering office. Experience with GIS and MS Office (Excel and Word) software, as well as a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License, are required. Experience with Infor Hansen (or similar asset management software) is an asset. Good writing and data management skills are an advantage as well as an innovative and sustainable approach to problem solving.
For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
$27.45 to $32.25 per hour
(Pay Grade 17 – January 2019 rates)
Hours of Work:
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
