Systems Operator I
The City of Enderby is seeking a Systems Operator I to join its Public Works team. The nature of the position is:
Skilled and technical systems work involving the operation of the City’s Wastewater and Water Treatment systems.
Reporting to the Department Head, the Systems Operator I position works in the facilities, the distribution and collection systems, and performs general Public Works duties as required.
The successful candidate will have completed Grade 12 or equivalent, have 2 years of technical courses related to water and/or wastewater treatment, and, at minimum, EOCP Level 1 certification in water treatment and wastewater treatment. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with air endorsement is required. Confined Space Awareness, Chlorine Handling, and Level 1 First Aid would also be beneficial.
The ability to operate heavy equipment and work safely and cooperatively, with others and around the public, is required. The ability to perform physical labour, including lifting, shovelling and climbing, is required.
The successful candidate will possess strong critical and analytical thinking abilities, strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Related Public Works experience and computer skills would be an asset.
As this position will have on-call duties on a rotational basis after three to six months of service, the successful candidate must live near to the community to fulfill those responsibilities. This position may also be cross-trained on and work as part of the Parks and Recreation Department as needed.
The wage rate starts at $31.73 plus certification premiums and benefits, with opportunities for growth commensurate with training and experience.
