Being analytical and creative, you have an ability to synthesize and translate data into compelling and engaging models that are easily interpreted by various stakeholders for good decision making.Reporting to the Principal, Data Engineering & Analytics, you will have primary responsibility to create, maintain and improve the delivery of data visualization standards and data analysis by understanding and interpreting business problems, translating requirements into solutions and standardizing data visualization tools at Trevali. With strong governance in place, you will lead and have oversight / guidance of employees, team members and vendor domain specialists to deliver innovative solutions across the business.Job DutiesGeneralBe a role model to the team and foster a team-oriented culture that promotes an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, sustainable development and operational excellence.Demonstrated commitment to Trevali values.Drive results and efficiency through good decision-making, action and change management, and strong people management.Key AccountabilitiesResponsible for the development of visualization standards, processes, and documentation.Responsible for design, development, maintenance, and administration of reporting applications, including standard reports, dashboards, and scorecards, ensuring adherence to standards.Work collaboratively in requirements gathering sessions with business users; elicit, document, and analyze data presentation and reporting requirements.Liaise with data providers to understand the elements of data being analyzed, e.g., business rules, data quality, as required.Guide and manage visualization development through all phases of project delivery; delegate tasks and coordinate the work of visualization developers on external delivery teams.Make large and/or complex data more accessible, understandable, and usable.Transform, improve, and integrate data, depending on the business requirements.Combine the data result sets across multiple sources (also known as data federation)Deliver the data in a useful and appealing way to users.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceRelevant tertiary qualification such as a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative field or quantitatively driven social field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering.5+ years of Business Intelligence experience.Demonstrated ability to learn, analyze and understand business processes, measures and KPIs.Delivered multiple business intelligence projects preferably within the mining industry.Excellent communication and teamwork skillsExposed to other aspects of Business Intelligence solution architecture (ETL, Data Cleansing, etc.)Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesExcellent understanding of data models, with emphasis on dimensional models.Excellent understanding of OLAP concepts and hands-on experience working with data in OLAP cubes.Demonstrated knowledge and experience in reading data libraries and scripting languages such as Python or Java.Hands-on experience with BI reporting applications (i.e., Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, etc.)Experience working with data wrangling tools (e.g., Alteryx).Experience in UX design highly regarded.Familiarity with design approaches like Stephen Few or Human Centered Design.Spanish and French is a plus but not a must. This position can be based out Canada or Southern Africa, with travel to mining operations as required.
