This is semi-skilled equipment operation and clerical and manual work in Purchasing Stores and related areas. An incumbent of this class receives and disburses a wide variety of stores materials and supplies, operates related materials handling equipment and assists in inventory record maintenance. Other duties include operating a forklift truck and tractor mounted equipment in loading, unloading, moving and storing bulk materials, palletized loads, supplies and stores items; manually performs strenuous sorting, lifting, carrying and piling tasks as required to maintain works yard and storage areas in a safe and tidy fashion. Checks, prepares, and enters a variety of data for stock received or issued into an established computerised inventory records system; may compile related reports such as fuel and/or lubricant consumption. Provides factual information and assistance to contacts on a variety of matters related to stores services and procedures. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 including some training related to the work and some related work experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of stores practices and procedures and of the rules and regulations governing stores operations; and of the types of supplies, materials, parts, and tools held by stores operations. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate inventory and stores records, using software applications and manual records; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Physical strength and agility sufficient to perform the work. Forklift Operator’s Certificate and Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia, Class 5 are required.
