About The Opportunity:
As the Safety Training Coordinator, you will work closely with the Manager, Health & Safety, on the development and implementation of the City’s Health and Safety Management System. You will be responsible for overseeing the City’s safety training program, including specific hazard and mobile/non-mobile equipment training. In doing so, you will  have the opportunity to liaise closely with operational divisions and personnel at all levels to ensure compliance with WCB, National Safety Code and Motor Vehicle Act rules and regulations as well as occupational health and safety standards. Rounding out this diverse role, the Safety Training Coordinator will provide expert advice to a wide range of City employees on safety best practices including worksite inspections, risk assessments, safety audits, vehicle/equipment safety plans and licensing requirements, accident investigations and policy development.

About Your Background:
Ideally you hold a post-secondary certificate in Occupational Health & Safety and have at least ten years’ demonstrated expertise and proficiency operating and providing training on a variety of heavy equipment and vehicles. Your considerable knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and procedures is augmented by your strong communication skills and your ability to positively influence cultural change regarding health and safety practices in the workplace. With sound decision making abilities and an understanding of labour relations, you are a natural leader who seeks continuous improvement in all that you do. In addition, your strong computer  proficiency and organizational skills  will assist you with the accurate record keeping required in this dynamic role. You hold a valid Class 3 BC driver’s license with air endorsement (or out of province equivalent).
