Road Marking Worker

The Engineering, Parks and Environment Department (Engineering Operations) – Streets Section, requires a regular full-time Road Marking Worker.
You will perform semi-skilled road marking work. You will perform tasks related to the layout of street markings according to standards, drawings, instructions and previous layouts, spray paint crosswalks, stop lines, arrows and related traffic markings. You will also perform a variety of semi-skilled rough carpentry tasks in the construction, alteration, repair and maintenance of fences, footbridges, stairs, doors, roofs and related wood structures. You will perform a variety of basic painting tasks such as signs, fences, posts, picnic tables as well as installing and maintaining new or replacement traffic signs. You will supervise the work of helpers in the completion of these tasks.
You will have sound related experience in the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in road marking operations as well as working knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in rough carpentry and painting. You must be skilled in the use and care of tools and equipment used in this work. You also have the ability to assign and direct the work of one or more helpers. A valid Class 5 Drivers License is required. A Red Seal in Carpentry or other relevant trade qualification is an asset. You must also be able to deal effectively with the public and embrace values such as teamwork, respect, a positive attitude, professionalism and integrity.
$30.23 per hour
(January 2019 rates)
Hours of Work:
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
