The City of Coquitlam is currently seeking an innovative and driven individual to fill a new position within the City as a Revenue Planning Specialist. This position is one of 3 direct reports to the Manager Financial Planning and falls within the Finance, Lands and Police Department.

As the Revenue Planning Specialist, you will responsible for providing an enhanced financial lens required for City wide initiatives including strategies related to the funding of significant capital investment and the resulting long-term operating budget implications, cash flow management related to the City’s investment portfolio, implications of the changing property taxation assessment base and corporate revenue reviews. This will involve liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and at times other levels of government.

This position will participate in work across a number of City projects requiring financial expertise and will offer innovative solutions to peers within the Finance division and beyond. Considerable independent leadership, innovation and judgment are required in managing, planning and organizing the key responsibilities of this role. The successful individual will be highly technical with the ability to formulate conclusions and provide recommendations based on the variety of analyses completed. This will involve leading a variety of research, analysis and problem solving tasks which may inform new policies and processes!

This exciting role requires an understanding of long-term financial planning as well as the various local government revenue sources. The successful candidate will showcase knowledge and experience with related legislation including the Local Government Act, Community Charter and Public Sector Accounting Board Standards. Furthermore, the successful candidate will possess excellent problem solving, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

In addition to a Chartered Professional Accountant Designation, Bachelors Degree in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration and/or another relevant discipline, you preferably possess a minimum of 3 years of related experience with at least 1 year within a municipal or regional government setting. You will have a balanced blend of financial and corporate expertise.
