Project Manager – Harry Jerome Community Rec Centre

We are looking for a dynamic, results-oriented professional to join the City’s Strategic & Corporate Services Department as a key member of our Project Delivery Team in this temporary full-time exempt position (3 years with potential for extension).
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, Strategic Initiatives, you will be involved in the delivery of municipal projects, with your primary focus being the Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre (HJCRC) project. You will assist with all aspects of delivering the HJCRC project including development of the design with the project and consultant teams, coordination of design and permitting with internal City departments, coordination of site servicing and off-site works, preparation and review of procurement documents, construction contract administration and other project management responsibilities to ensure the HJCRC project meets rigorous reporting, timeline and budget requirements. You will create and track project budgets and schedules, oversee the work undertaken by consultants and contractors, liaise with internal City staff and ensure adherence to design and regulatory requirements, engineering standards and City Policies.
You have a degree in a related discipline (eg. Architecture, Structural or Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture) and experience with managing large projects of institutional or complex nature, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Municipal experience and eligibility for professional registration (eg. EGBC, AIBC, BCSLA, ASTTBC) are preferred. Proven team building, communication and collaboration skills are essential in this role, along with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple project components of varying size and complexity, and experience with contract management. A PMP / Contract Administrator certification, or similar, would be advantageous. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is also required.
