PRIME Coordinator – Saanich Police Department (Saanich, BC)



Permanent Full Time Position

The Saanich Police Department is recruiting for the position of PRIME Coordinator.  The successful candidate will carry out the operational and administrative functions in support of the PRIME Records Management System (RMS).  The Prime Coordinator will act as the primary system administrator and resource for development testing, training and development of training materials for PRIME BC software applications and related systems delivered to all employees of the Saanich Police and other police departments as required. The successful candidate is responsible for  developing local procedures, workflow, business and routing rules and recommends related  operational policies and procedures; monitors and maintains the electronic records management system (PRIME) in accordance with administrative and technical standards; travel to attend meetings to represent Saanich Police on local, regional, provincial and federal committees; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external clients, other Police agencies, Provincial agencies, and Federal agencies.   

The ideal candidate will come with considerable knowledge of PRIME, CPIC, RTID and other police related systems and work associated to various job descriptions/roles as well as technical knowledge of PRIME to complete maintenance, configuration, installation, and troubleshooting practices and procedures. 

Requirements include: Diploma in Business Administration, Public Administration or related discipline; five years of experience in a police environment with extensive experience working directly with PRIME or another sensitive information/records management system and in a training role with demonstrated facilitation/training experience; proficient in MS Office Suites for word processing, spreadsheets, email systems and database applications; demonstrates thorough knowledge of business English, correct punctuation, grammatical usage and a good vocabulary; accurate keyboarding speed of 40 words per minute; valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence together with a personal vehicle for work related use; and must pass/maintain the required enhanced reliability security clearance, including polygraph.  Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.  Must be willing to undertake training, specific to the task area, general skills enhancement and computer upgrading.
