Plan Checker – Regional District of North Okanagan (Coldstream, BC)

We have a challenging and rewarding opening for the position of Plan Checker. The successful candidate will have a diploma in building technology, a Trades Qualification ticket and a valid BC driver’s license. As a condition of employment the successful candidate will be required to pass the Level 1 Building Official qualification exam within 12 months. There will be an opportunity for advancement upon progression through the Building Official’s Association of BC (BOABC) certification levels and completion of the required work experience.

You are detail oriented and have excellent customer service skills. You have the ability to read and interpret building construction plans and drawings and possess thorough knowledge of relevant bylaws, regulations, codes, policies, procedures and standards.

Reporting to the Chief Building Inspector, the Plan Checker is responsible for the coordination and examination of plans and specifications accompanying building permit applications to ensure compliance with relevant bylaws, regulations and codes.

This is a regular, full-time position (35 hours/week) with a starting wage of $31.50 increasing to $36.18 per hour (2020 rates), as well as an extensive benefits package and compressed work schedule.
