Operations & Maintenance Person – District of Saanich (Saanich, BC)

The Public Works Division is recruiting for an Operations & Maintenance Person to perform manual tasks requiring skill, knowledge and abilities in a wide variety of operational and maintenance related work.  The successful candidate will organize and monitor for routine yard and building related maintenance, services and repairs with internal and external service providers.  This position also responds to direction from the Standby Person on Saturday and Sundays as well as to provide support and response as required to the Saanich Fire/Police or other Saanich Divisions.

Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent; completion of an approved BCMSA Utility Locator Specialist Course; one year of related experience operating a variety of Public Works related vehicles, mechanized tools and equipment; valid traffic control certificate and a valid Class 3 BC Driver’s Licence with air brake endorsement.  Candidates with a combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to work varying hours and work week; primarily Thursday to Monday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. depending on operational needs.
