This is specialized marketing, promotional and public relations work involving coordinating, preparing and disseminating a variety of information to promote awareness of the City’s programs, services and events. The incumbent works on and supports various corporate marketing initiatives. The incumbent develops promotional materials, press releases and online marketing initiatives; establishes and maintains contact with media representatives, conducts sponsorship activities, coordinates special events and participates in the planning, development and evaluation marketing, sponsorship and communication strategies in support of departmental goals; maintains various files and records related to the work; prepares reports, correspondence and related materials; develops, monitors and controls marketing and communications budgets and proposals. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include university graduation in marketing or communications or a related discipline plus some related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Sound knowledge of the marketing, sponsorship and communication objectives and practices. Working knowledge of online marketing using available technology including website content management, and social media. Demonstrated skills in communication, research and writing and in managing multiple projects and deadlines are required.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts; to prepare and maintain various related records, reports and correspondence, and to develop and monitor a program budget. Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.

This is a temporary opportunity to December 31, 2020.
