Manufacturing Manager

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Manager for a well established industrial machinery client of ours in the Vancouver area. The Manager will oversee the daily operations of manufacturing as well as collaborating with other departments related to manufacturing. You will be involved in all aspects of the manufacturing cycle, including planning, coordinating, and directing production related activities, controlling documentation and operations manuals.

Responsibilities
-Project schedule management and control for all capital works including planning, sequencing, estimating, and developing
-Present regularly to supervisory team and management team on status of department
-Spearhead safety improvement initiatives with the objective of improving overall safety culture and eliminating workplace injuries. Chair Joint Health & Safety Committee and lead monthly meetings
-Project risk management and resource management, including estimating resources based on workload, acquiring as required, developing and managing.
-Being the principal management liaison with the Shop Committee and lead Shop Employee Contract Negotiations
-Resolve personnel issues and take appropriate corrective actions where necessary. Manage employee performance and recruit new shop employees in collaboration with Human Resources.
-Lead continuous improvement operations using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methods Liaise with Property Management (building owners) and handle any property issues (HVAC, alarm, security, industrial hazardous material removal, flooding) and develop long-term planning for facility requirements
-Be in charge of production quality to meet the required standards, and implement uniform global manufacturing practices
-Develop and monitor KPI’s locally based on expectations and global strategy objectives (i.e. OTIF, OEE, LTIF). Liaise directly with counterparts in other production facilities to support our clients global strategy
-Embrace the opportunities of digitalization as a platform for continuous productivity improvement
-Provide ERP, APS and operational expertise, assisting other departments (engineering, manufacturing, sales, procurement, project management, logistics) in problem solving
-Make strategic decisions to achieve financial targets (budgets, POC estimates, etc). Review Annual departmental budget for upcoming year and make recommendations
-Identify, plan and execute long term investment plans to ensure continuity

Qualifications

-Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
-Minimum 10 years of experience in an industrial equipment environment
-Well versed in process improvement and LEAN manufacturing techniques
-Mechanical aptitude with an ability to troubleshoot issues
-Ability to travel to customer sites locally throughout Canada and the US
-Must possess a valid passport and driver’s license
