The Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) is the regional government serving the approximate 30,000 residents of the Sunshine Coast, BC. Bordered by rugged mountains on one side and the Georgia Strait on the other, the Sunshine Coast is situated on a peninsula between Howe Sound and Jervis Inlet in the traditional territory of the shíshálh and Skwxwú7mesh First Nations. Known for its mild winters, beautiful surroundings, arts, recreation, and culture, the Sunshine Coast of BC is not only a preferred tourist destination, it is a great place to live, work and play.
Reporting to the General Manager, Planning & Development, the Manager, Sustainable Development is responsible for the development, coordination and administration of the sustainable development and climate change mitigation and resilience policies, practices and initiatives for the SCRD and the community at large by establishing, overseeing and enhancing community and corporate sustainable development programs.
This full-time, exempt position includes a competitive salary and a full benefits package upon hire.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as natural resource management or planning, with preference given to a Master’s degree, supplemented by additional and appropriate coursework in areas of local government, law, public policy and administration.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive sustainable development-related experience, including two (2) years of supervising technical staff, and experience working with community groups, First Nations, and other stakeholders, preferably in local government.
- A suitable combination of education and experience may also be considered.
- A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.
