Manager of Operations

We are seeking to fill a senior role in our Engineering and Operations Department. The Manager of Operations oversees a wide and varied portfolio managing the operations of our Public Works area. We are seeking someone with a team-oriented leadership style, outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, and a broad range of technical and administrative experience.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Operations and acting as their staff advisor, this position has oversight to ensure delivery of essential services to our community. Wide ranging areas of responsibility will include diking, drainage, municipal infrastructure and equipment, roads, bridges, fleet, solid waste, water and wastewater systems and storm sewer maintenance and replacement. Generally, duties will include budgetary responsibilities for all public works areas, setting department goals and objectives, developing a strong safety culture, and managing a variety of projects while providing excellent customer service to residents and other stake holders. You will have input into hiring and overseeing work performed by staff, and consultants, and ensuring adherence to quality control standards.

Preferred candidates will possess a Diploma of Technology in an appropriate discipline and sound related municipal engineering, public works and/or related construction experience. We are interested in candidates with at least five years supervisory experience in a related discipline and sound knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems. You should be registered as, or eligible to be registered as, an Applied Science Technologist in the Province of BC.
