Job Description:POSITION TITLE: Manager – Counselling Services PROGRAM: Counselling Services REPORTS TO: Vice President Health ServicesLOCATION: FlexibleSTATUS: Permanent part-time or full-timeHOURS OF WORK: Manager duties will be up to 1 day a week in addition to the clinical caseload. SUMMARYUnder the direction of the Vice President Health Services, the Manager of Counselling Services is responsible for oversight of counselling services, including implementation of operations in an efficient, cost-effective, and ethical manner. As a leader of the organization, the Manager promotes Back in Motion by upholding and sharing the corporate Mission Statement and Core Values of the company. All Registered Clinical Counsellors comply with the ethical and professional standards as outlined by the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (Code of Ethical Conduct and Standards of Clinical Practice). Clinical Counsellors also comply with Back in Motion’s Code of Ethical Conduct. RESPONSIBILITIESClinical Work: The Manager takes on a clinical caseload to ensure ongoing efficient and effective service delivery.Conducts intake assessments, which may include administration of psychological symptom screening;Develops and implements short-term treatment plans;Provides time-limited, evidence informed treatment for clients with a range of presenting problems/diagnoses;Provides coaching and support within a solution-focused context;Writes reports and progress notes as needed;Completes documentation in a timely manner;Maintains accurate and up-to-date clinical notes and other records;Adheres to Back In Motion policies/procedures/practices, as well as standards of service;Ensures adherence to commitments to clients and customers. Operations: The Manager of Counselling Services is accountable for the day-to-day counselling services operations, including efficient and effective service delivery and quality control; monitoring and analyzing Key Performance Indicators to improve service delivery; and providing ongoing support to staff.Contracts: As applicable, the Manager is familiar with service contracts/agreements, and ensures we deliver a quality product consistent with requirements. The Manager will participate in requests for proposals, pilot projects, and development and implementation of new programs and services.Human Resources: The Manager works collaboratively with Human Resources to complete recruitment and selection, performance reviews, professional development plans, and terminations of staff and contractors; and student field work or other shadowing requests. Provides orientation, training, and mentorship to new and existing staff.Facilities: The Manager is responsible for working with the Facilities Department to ensure that staff members have the tools and equipment necessary to perform their jobs, including equipment purchases and maintenance, space requirements, and supplies.Finances and Budgeting: The Manager, with assistance from the Finance Department, Vice President of Health Services, and Location Manager, participates in the budget process, and ensures counselling and services meet targets and objectives.Stakeholders Relations: As a company, clinic and program representative, the Manager liaises with different stakeholders including professional bodies, colleges, universities, WorkSafeBC and other insurance companies, including networking, clinic tours, quality assurance, marketing presentations etc.Strategic Planning: The Manager is accountable for understanding and interpreting the corporate vision, as well as implementing the strategies related to achieving this vision at the level of programs and services that fall under their accountability.Special Projects: The Manager conducts presentations, and may be involved in other special projects as required.Other: The Manager serves as a resource to process Freedom of Information requests, schedules and coordinates meetings, may also field and direct phone calls, and support the Counselling team and other management as necessary.QUALIFICATIONS1.Minimum Qualifications:At least two (2) years of related clinical experience; experience in leading teams an asset.Excellent knowledge of the practice of counselling Excellent clinical and interpersonal skills, and ability to multi-task and prioritize with a focus on customer service. Education: M.A. Counselling or a related field Memberships & Associations: Registered with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors.2.Skills & Attributes: RequiredExcellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.Excellent assessment and treatment skills.Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.Strong initiative and follow-through skills.Demonstrated understanding of the Back in Motion services.Evidence-informed experience, excellent customer service, and solution-focused orientation.Desirable SkillsTraining and experience in management.Experience working with allied health professionals and third party payers.
