Maintenance Engineering Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced maintenance engineering supervisor for a very busy and growing consumer goods manufacturing client of ours in the Vancouver area.


-Plan and coordinate the activities of a team of three maintenance technicians in conducting inspections and preventative maintenance of equipment and facilities (including complex CNC machinery).
-Introduce maintenance activities with good engineering direction that support production by reducing or eliminating equipment and tooling downtime.
-Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities, analyze equipment needs and reliability issues, and make improvements.
-Plan and manage equipment installations and re-locations including coordinating with contractors, ensuring minimal disruption to production and achieving both schedule and budget targets.
-Develop and manage an effective inventory control and procurement system for machine tooling and spare parts to minimize down-time.
-Drive the process for implementing equipment improvements and modifications; determine key performance indicators for all equipment, documenting uptime reports and making recommendations for repair or replacement.
-Determine optimal staffing requirements and ensure the timely and effective hiring, onboarding, training, evaluation and management of maintenance staff.


-A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering or an equivalent certification in a related field.
-Previous experience in a maintenance management role, ideally in a highly automated and technology-driven manufacturing environment; experience within the furniture manufacturing industry is desirable.
-Strong technical knowledge of engineering concepts including electrical and mechanical systems with experience operating, troubleshooting and maintaining complex CNC production machinery.
-Proven people management and team development skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a unionized environment where compliance with quality and safety protocols is essential.
-Ability to prioritize well in a changing environment and track and supervise multiple activities at once.
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project) and AutoCAD with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
