Job Description:The Individualized Funding Resource Centre (IFRC) Society is proud to offer Home Sharing and Live-In Supports to individuals with disabilities through our Community Living program. We facilitate the recruitment of community support workers and are a Host Agency with CLBC. We are currently seeking live-in support providers in Vancouver, North Vancouver, and Surrey to support and provide to individuals with developmental disabilities. A successful home share is based on the development of a close relationship between the individual, the home share providers, the IFRC, and their support network. Each individual is uniquely matched with a live-in that best matches their specific needs and preferences. The Live-In Care Provider will be a positive role model in a safe, structured, home environment where adults can develop social and life skills to ready themselves to reach their full potential for independence. Responsibilities: · Provide an inclusive, welcoming, and safe environment for the individual. · Adhere to the contractual obligations and stay up to date on certifications (i.e. First Aid and CPR). · Assist the individual in all aspects of daily living (personal care, appointments, etc.). · Provide ongoing emotional and behavioral supports, as necessary. · Enhance the quality of life of the individual receiving support. · Provide support and follow safety and emergency protocols based on the individual’s Personal Service Plan and maintain supervision to ensure this plan is being implemented. · Develop a strong interpersonal relationship with the individual as well as their support network and assist the individual to make effective choices concerning the development and maintenance of friendships and relationships. · Actively seek out new ways to engage the individual within the community. Qualifications (or be willing to obtain): · Minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or behavioral challenges or a minimum of one year of medical/and or community support experience (i.e. care aide, nurse, community support worker, mental health worker, addiction counsellor, social work). · A satisfactory criminal record check. · Current CPR (level A) and Emergency First Aid. · Significant experience providing care to individuals facing multiple barriers. · A negative TB test. · Non-Violent Crisis training or Positive Behavior Support (PBS) Training is considered an asset. · Food Safe Certificate is considered an asset. · Multilingual skills and multicultural competence are considered an asset. · A valid BC Driver’s license is considered an asset (but not mandatory). Compensation: The compensation will vary according to the contract and individual being supported.
