The lab technician (Or Finishing Technician) is a crucial role responsible for helping produce quality edged and mounted work thru various stations, including tracing, tinting, layout, blocking, edging, mounting and repairs, drill mount, and final (QA) inspection. They are also
responsible for preventative maintenance and cleaning of equipment according to the provided schedule.

What you need to know about the job duties:
• tracing a frame/pattern, as well as reprocess order, attaching pattern and verifying all information
• Edge lenses into frames, with proper bevel placement, groove position and sizing. Care taken to preserve the condition of new
and customer’s own frames. Proper frame alignment must be maintained
• tinting and UV coating to patient specifications and HOYA standards, understanding availability and options
• grooving
• drilling- creating and saving formulas, proper drill assembly for plug and screw mount
• Safety monogramming and mounting.
• Responsible for basic operation, cleaning, and ongoing maintenance of laboratory tools and equipment using established
maintenance procedures and calendars.
• Inspect uncut lenses against cosmetic and optical standards

Qualifications
• Optical background considered a strong asset
• Technically inclined/ machinery experience an asset.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced high volume environment.
• Experience that requires alpha-numerical recognition, interpretation, and execution is an asset.
• Must be well organized, have excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities, and have a heightened sense of
urgency.
• Must be able to work in a team atmosphere as well as an individual with minimal supervision.
• Standing, walking, reaching, and bending constantly throughout the day.
• Low, moderate and high noise levels (not to exceed standards)
• Work produced is subject to precise measures of quantity and quality.
• Near vision and sharp focus to adjust vision when doing close work.
