About the role: Dodge Data & Analytics is searching for a dynamic hands-on Lead Software Engineer to be part of our Data Platform team. The ideal candidate should have a track record of successfully designing, implementing backend enhancements following Agile methodology and Scrum framework. The role requires close collaboration with Product Managers, Project Managers, Data Architect, DBA’s, and will directly manage a development team of approximately 5 to 8 members including software developers, testers, performance engineer, and business analyst. This role must have excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and process re-engineering skills and accountable for the data platform team’s deliverables. This ideal candidate will work closely with on/offshore teams to ensure timely and effective execution of the data platform backlog using mature engineering practices. You will help lead, mentor, and grow other technical leads and developers on the team. What you’ll do: Responsible for designing methods to ingest, analyze, store, and utilize, data as it moves through the data platform gathering, cleansing, and enrichment processes Create database tables after identifying needs and migrate data from old to new systems. Create ways to store, organize, and present data. Perform complex technical and analytical tasks involving evaluations and database-driven applications. Administer a variety of database systems including Oracle and others. Assume the technical lead for SQL database projects. Manage all phases of ETL development on assigned projects including reviewing technical documentation, tasking ETL development work, conducting design reviews, coordinating packaging and release deployments, and testing of solutions in highly complex environments with a high volume of projects and changes in flight. Manage a team of developers, business analysts, and testers to develop and implement data solutions. Audit, modify, cleanse, and enrich data in systems using SQL commands, hand editing, and bulk import. Demonstrate strong problem solving and remediation skills. Manage ETL operations to include problem, incident, request management, and root-cause analysis. Plan and coordinate security measures alongside network administrators. Enhance, tune and build database designs. What you’ll bring: 8 to 10 years of professional experience in delivering solutions ranging from data engineering enhancements, process re-engineering and automation of manual processes, and integration with MDM solutions is a must. Experience in consolidating/simplifying data silos/processes and provide strategic leadership is a must. At least four (4) years of experience is required with: Data modeling (3rd Normal Form) ETL development Oracle database (PL/SQL) SQL scripting Data warehousing and BI/ETL processes Database design and database performance tuning At least four (4) years of Database administration skills are required. Previous cloud computing experience utilizing AWS is preferred. Proficiency in scripting languages (UNIX Shell, Perl, Python, Ruby, others) is a must. Proficiency with ETL tools like Talend, Informatica PowerCenter is preferred. Proficiency in RESTful concepts and experience building microservices using Java, Node.js, Python, and AWS Lambdas, SQS/SES/SNS is a plus. Proficiency in build automation using Jenkins or other tools is a plus. Elasticsearch experience, BI/ data warehouse experience is a plus. Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning is nice to have. Experience with tools like Tableau to generate analytical dashboards is a plus. Ability to multi-task, problem-solve and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Excellent English written, oral, and presentation communication skills. Strong analytical skills, ability to use metrics to drive proactive and continuous improvements is a must. Experience working with source control tools like Git, BitBucket is a must. Knowledge of Agile methodology and Scrum framework for software development is a must.
