The City of North Vancouver is looking for individuals to work on a temporary full time basis as Lead Site Hosts at the Shipyards and Waterfront for approximately 4 months.
In this exciting leadership position, you will schedule, train and provide day to day supervision to a small team of Site Hosts working at the Skate Plaza at the Shipyards and Waterfront. During the operation of the skating rink, you will also provide on-ice assistance and a safe and fun atmosphere for guests using the rink; ensuring all skaters follow the rules, the safety of the rink and accesses as well as opening and closing sections of the rink as required. You will provide customer service for skate rentals and perform payment transactions and ensure proper handling of payment records as they pertain to skate rentals. In addition, you will assist with opening and closing duties of the facility, trouble shoot issues that arise and provide assistance to Site Hosts and the public as required. You will also be a point of contact for emergency situations that arise in the space and will take action to arrange for emergency services as required.
You will have strong customer service and communication skills as well as cashiering and supervisory experience. You will have the ability to work independently and the ability to exercise judgment and to deal courteously with the public and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. The ability to ice-skate is required. Experience with skate rentals, first aid training and knowledge of related equipment would be an asset.
$19.27 per hour
(Pay grade 8 – January 2019 rates)

Hours of Work:
37.5 hour work week; the shift will be any eight (8) consecutive hours, inclusive of an unpaid one-half (1/2) hour meal break, each shift commencing between 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m., any 5 consecutive days per week.
