Instrumentation / Electrical Technician

The District of Peachland, a vibrant and growing community of approximately 5,400 located on the shores of Okanagan Lake between Kelowna and Penticton, is currently recruiting for a permanent full- time Instrumentation / Electrical Technician.

Reporting to the Operations Leadhand, this position will troubleshoot, maintain, repair and upgrade a variety of electrical systems, equipment and components in all of the District’s facilities and utility infrastructure.

Key Job Duties / Functions

  • Installation, repair and preventative maintenance on a variety of electrical equipment including industrial process control systems, chlorination, transformers, switch gear, electric motors, level sensors and panel wiring
  • Regular equipment inspections to confirm performance, troubleshoot and repair as necessary
  • Provide programmable logic controller (PLC) programming
  • Establish a preventative maintenance program for all electrical and control systems within the District’s purview
  • Perform maintenance on appurtenant systems such as fire alarm systems, data cabling, HVAC control and standby generators

Hours of Work
The normal work day shall consist of a scheduled period of up to eight consecutive hours of work and the normal work week shall consist of up to five consecutive days, followed by two consecutive days off. The regular shift for this position is Monday – Friday.
This is a CUPE Local 608 Position with a comprehensive benefits package and pay rate of $35.35


  • High school graduation
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license
  • BC or Interprovincial Journeyman Certification as an electrician
  • Field safety representative (FSR) – Class B
  • Preference will be given to applicant with;
    • An interprovincial Red Seal certification in Industrial Instrumentation and Process Control
    • Knowledge and experience within water and/or wastewater treatment facilities
    • Knowledge and experience with gaseous and liquid chlorinator systems
  • Confined space entry certification
  • Minimum 5 years Journeyman level experience in a commercial or industrial plant environment
