The City of Abbotsford has an exciting opportunity for a temporary (approximately 6-8 month) Human Resources Assistant to join our Human Resources team. In this role you will learn, be challenged, and gain valuable experience to help launch your HR career. This role requires a high energy self-starter who values a team environment and can manage a busy and interesting workload while providing excellent customer service. 

The HR Assistant will coordinate the City’s corporate training and essential policy sessions acting as the first point of contact for our employees. You will be interacting with facilitators, scheduling a variety of training courses, marketing upcoming training sessions, managing registration lists, and maintaining training records. Additionally, you will process departmental and professional development training requests and support the HR team with various projects and general administration.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management and planning skills
  • A university degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ Human Resources experience in an entry level role
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and databases
  • CHRP designation or working towards the designation is considered an asset
