Human Resources and Safety Manager

The District of Lake Country is seeking a permanent full-time Manager of Human Resources and Safety to join their team. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Manager of Human Resources and Safety will provide leadership and expertise in a wide range of human resource and labour relations strategies, programs and services to all the District’s departments. Leading a staff of two, this position will be responsible for the overall management of the District’s human resource and safety functions in areas such as labour management, recruitment, employee retention and recognition, compensation, benefits administration, job evaluation, training and development, organizational/workplace wellness and occupational health and safety. The successful candidate will have broad experience in labour relations in a unionized environment. Fostering relationships with staff, coworkers and union representatives will be a key success factor for this position. You will also have experience in delivering on corporate projects, leading change and demonstrating political and organization awareness in providing innovative solution-focused services. In this role you may prepare and present reports to senior leadership or Council in alignment with current policies and legislated requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a degree in Human Resources or a related field and five years of broad-based experience in the human resources or labour relations settings within a unionized environment. You must have demonstrated experience in administering collective agreements, labour relations as well as managing, directing, coaching and leading employees. A CPHR designation would be an asset. The annual salary for this exempt position is within a range of $105,000 to $120,000, depending upon qualifications, and includes a comprehensive benefit package.
