The City of Campbell River is seeking a part-time Horticulturist I.

As part of the Parks team, you will perform tasks assigned in the day-to-day operation, maintenance and associated record keeping of the City’s gardens, boulevards, green spaces and trees.

To complement your Horticulture Technician Certificate from a recognized college or technical institute or successful completion of the BC Industry Training Authority’s Landscape Horticulturist Apprenticeship Common Core Level I and Level II exams, you MUST also have:

  • a current Pesticide Applicator Certificate (Landscape – Integrated Pest Management).
  • an Occupational First Aid Level 1 certificate.
  • minimum three (3) months practical horticulture experience.
  • minimum three (3) months in the maintenance and the application of pesticides, and the ability to plant, transplant, fertilize, irrigate, cultivate, mulch, weed and prune trees, shrubs and plants.

The current hourly rate of pay for this CUPE bargaining unit position is $29.94 working eight (8) hours per day from 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, eight (8) months per year (March through October).
