This is supervisory work involving responsibility for the maintenance of municipal sewer systems. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, scheduling, reviewing, evaluating and potentially participating in the work for truck drivers, equipment operators, CCTV inspection and labourer engaged in sewer maintenance. Also investigates public complaints and initiates remedial action; maintains effective public relations with the community. Employees of this class exercise some independent judgment and action in most aspects of the work with more complex problems and policy matters being referred to and discussed with a superior who reviews work performance and conformance with desired standards and achievement of objectives. Performs related work as required.
Completion of grade 12 supplemented by related technical courses plus sound related experience in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance of sewers; and of related hazards and safety precautions. Must be willing to accept standby and call-out assignments. Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia and EOCP Wastewater Collection Level II Certification are required.
