Strathcona Regional District (SRD) has an opening for a part-time First Nations Coordinator. Under the general direction of the Manager, Strategic Initiatives, the First Nations Coordinator is responsible for supporting relationship building between the Strathcona Regional District (SRD) and local First Nations and Indigenous organizations. This position will advise, guide and build organization capacity regarding First Nations culture, processes, engagement, reconciliation and partnership development. The First Nations coordinator provides leadership in facilitating and coordinating partnerships and projects to advance community development opportunities within the SRD.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (or equivalent combination):

  • Minimum of a two-year post-secondary diploma in Indigenous Studies, Community Development, Social Sciences, Public Administration or related field of study.
  • Minimum of three years related experience in community development or program coordination.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with local Indigenous culture and communities in the Strathcona Regional District.

REQUIRED LICENCES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • BC Driver’s License – Class 5

The position is part-time, 21 hours a week with a wage range from $36.19/hour to $41.56/hour. The SRD has applied to the BC Office of the Human Rights Commissioner for approval to preferentially hire a person who self-identifies as Indigenous for this position.
