Working closely with the RCMP, this is clerical and custodial work of some complexity performed in the Burnaby Detachment equipment room. An incumbent of this class tracks, receives, issues and stores a variety of weapons and police equipment; ensures equipment is in working order; conducts minor repairs on equipment; maintains an adequate level of equipment and supplies; identifies equipment and supplies to be ordered; prepares equipment kits for members and prepares and maintains records, files and reports. An incumbent exercises independence of judgement and action within established guidelines while also providing information and assistance to auxiliary staff. The work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed by a superior in terms of conformance to standard procedures and standards. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include high school graduation supplemented by courses related to the work plus sound related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of the various types and use of weapons and police equipment required by RCMP members, and of safety regulations. Ability to use software including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software to access and/or create spreadsheets and maintain statistics and related data; to work under minimal supervision, to exercise sound judgement in accordance with applicable rules, regulation, and policies; to multi-task and to perform effectively during peak period; to lift and carry heavy equipment and items. Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia and the ability to obtain and maintain a valid RCMP Security Clearance are required.
Work schedule: Wednesday to Sunday (12:30-20:30)
