Applications are invited for the Regular Full-Time position of Engineering Works Inspector to work in the Engineering, Parks and Environment Department. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Services, the successful applicant will be responsible for technical regulatory and inspectional work which includes preliminary surveying and data analysis, and inspecting the work performed by private contractors, developers, City crews and utility companies on development related construction projects to ensure adherence to specified standards, specifications, regulations, plans, bylaws, safety procedures and sound construction practices. Considerable independent action, judgement and initiative are exercised in the work.
RATE OF PAY:
Pay Grade 28: $41.51 to $43.03
HOURS OF WORK:
35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

The incumbent will have knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and equipment used in the construction and installation of municipal services and facilities such as sewers, waterworks, roads, concrete structures and underground services, the practices and methods used in inspecting, regulating and coordinating construction and installation projects performed by contractors, basic engineering principles and practices, methods of inspecting, and the Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD) engineering construction project regulations and of safety procedures and WorkSafe regulations.
Graduation from a recognized Civil Engineering Technology certificate program, a minimum of five years’ experience in municipal engineering and work inspections, GIS and database application experience, Certification as a Public Works Inspector II, and certified as a Certified Technician (CTech) with the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC; or an equivalent combination of training and experience is desired.
