Permanent Full-time Vacancy
Engineering Technical Clerk

The Engineering Department is seeking a full-time permanent Engineering Technical Clerk to join their team to provide customer services and technical administrative support. The position answers all public inquiries with a focus on development engineering processes and policies and prepares, processes and tracks engineering files, applications, permits, agreements and legal documents. Additionally, the Engineering Technical Clerk provides research assistance, analysis and reports and assists the department in preparation of correspondence and presentations to Committee and Council.

The position requires an exceptional ability to tactfully deal with internal and public inquiries. Candidates must possess sound organizational, research and time-management skills. The normal work week is 35 hours, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility required for meetings after normal work hours on occasion.  

A minimum of two years towards a college diploma in business administration, computer technology, public administration or related field, plus a minimum of six years’ experience in local government, with at least three of those years in engineering or infrastructure departments are required. While the work is primarily in an office environment, visits to construction and development sites may be required; therefore, operation of a motor vehicle is required.

The hourly rate of pay for this unionized position is $30.66 plus a full comprehensive benefits package.
