This is an auxiliary opportunity involving janitorial and custodial work including building maintenance and repair duties of a minor routine nature. Performs a variety of janitorial duties including checking on work of others and advise a superior of deficiencies or required changes within the City Hall complex facilities. Duties include maintenance and cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning, replenishing washroom supplies, refill dispensers and empty trash as required, replacing fluorescent tubes and light fixtures, unclog toilets, fixtures, or sinks, cursory inspection on the heating, electrical and plumbing systems at the mechanical and service rooms, taking out recycling bins, and other related maintenance activities of comparable complexity level; Work the day to day tasks. The incumbent will also help with building security such as opening doors and vehicle compound gates for business, dealing with alarms and also help with building security such as opening doors and vehicle equipment as required. Will also assist others in transporting various materials throughout the city and to other locations as needed, performs related work as required.
Qualifications include up to high school graduation plus several years’ experience in related janitorial/ custodial work or maintenance/repair work or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge and work related experience with the methods, tools, and equipment used in janitorial, building maintenance, and repair work is required. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision completing various maintenance tasks and prioritizing the work is required. Skill and experience with a variety of the tools and equipment used in the work is required. The ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions is required. An Enhanced RCMP Security Clearance must be obtained and maintained. A valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
