Coordinator – Block Watch

The Police Administration Department requires a regular full-time Coordinator – Block Watch to work at the RCMP Detachment.
You will perform clerical work, providing support services to the Community Policing and Crime Prevention Unit. This includes arranging and scheduling Block Watch meetings, the recruitment, selection and training of volunteers, preparing newsletters and bulletins, ensuring priorities and deadlines are met, typing/word processing various forms and documents, composing routine and non-routine correspondence, maintaining and controlling a variety of files, records and Block Watch databases, updating manuals, and performing other related duties.
You will have proven clerical skills and have the ability to keyboard at a net speed of 50 words per minute. Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by commercial courses and experience in volunteer management are required. You have demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision. The ability to communicate effectively and provide education and guidance to a large group of citizen volunteers is essential. Related experience in a crime prevention and/or a police environment is desirable. Applicants with experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, Publisher), and RCMP applications (PRIME, CPIC) will be given preference. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is required.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP security clearance as a condition of ongoing employment.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.
$27.43 to $32.23 per hour
(Pay Grade 16 – January 2021 rates)
Hours of Work:
Any seven (7) consecutive hours, exclusive of an unpaid one hour meal break, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule, with one scheduled day off each three-week scheduling cycle.
