The Planning and Development Department is looking for a regular full-time Clerk – Permits to join our team.    

In this position you will provide administrative and front counter support in the Planning and Development Department, including the Building and Planning Divisions.  You will be responsible for typing correspondence and materials; counter, email and telephone enquiries, providing information to the public and staff relating to permits, bylaws, procedures and departmental rules, regulations and policies, processing applications for permits and, as appropriate, issuing same; calculating fees; scheduling requests for inspections; entering and retrieving data from the automated permit information/processing system. 

You will have a considerable knowledge of, and the ability to make decisions on, applicable departmental practices, procedures, rules and regulations relative to permit application processing; a sound knowledge of the automated permit and license information system as related to the work; an ability to generate statistical spreadsheet reports related to the work; an ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public, officials and staff in supplying information and keyboarding skills at a minimum net speed of 40 wpm.  In addition you will also be proficient in MS Office. The ability to read blue prints and knowledge of the BC Building Code would be an asset.

Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.

Salary:
$25.31 to $29.74 per hour
(Pay Grade 15, January 2019 rates)

Hours of Work:
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
