About Our Community:

The City of Prince George is seeking an experienced and committed City Manager to work collaboratively with the municipal council in implementing the community’s vision and strategic priorities, which are related to social health and well-being, environmental leadership and climate action, economic growth and development, and city government and infrastructure. As the northern capital of the Province of British Columbia, the City of Prince George (population 75,000) is an economically robust and growing City offering an enviable quality of life for residents, and is a model for sustainable Canadian cities. The City Manager is accountable for the operation of all municipal services and oversees a staff of 750 exempt and union employees with a total budget of $250 million.

About The Opportunity:
In addition to possessing considerable knowledge and hands-on experience in local government operations, the preferred candidate will have proven senior leadership skills which have been developed through working collaboratively with elected and other government officials, building solid community relationships and partnerships, and leading and mentoring diverse and multi-disciplined professional staff teams. The City Manager must have a strong commitment to public service values. Well-developed and demonstrated interpersonal, communication and adaptability skills, combined with a dedication to the community and to the region, will be critical.

About Your Background:
The ideal candidate will have a degree in public or business administration or a related discipline, combined with previous local government experience at the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Deputy CAO or senior executive (General Manager or Director) level. Professional certification in local government at an advanced level, preferably in British Columbia, would also be an asset.
