The lifestyle community of Salmon Arm is nestled on the shore of Salmon Arm Bay of Shuswap Lake, centrally located half way between Vancouver and Calgary. With a population of approximately 19,000, it is the
largest community on Shuswap Lake and serves as the business centre for the area. Surrounded by rolling hillsides, Salmon Arm is rich in culture and arts and enjoys a full complement of excellent recreation and community facilities. With a moderate climate and four distinct seasons, Salmon Arm offers year-round recreation for all ages.

Reporting to the Manager of Permits and Licensing, the Bylaw Enforcement Officer is responsible for all matters related to the enforcement of municipal bylaws and for the maintenance and accuracy of all files on matters related to court actions on behalf of the City of Salmon Arm. The position is responsible for identifying enforcement issues, developing plans to address and resolve these issues, also responds to complaints related to bylaw violations within the City of Salmon Arm boundaries. The work involves extensive public contact and community liaison requiring exercise of sound judgement, independent action, and considerable tact and diplomacy within the framework of established policies, bylaws and regulations.

The preferred candidate will have four years’ experience in the bylaw enforcement field or have experience in the court and judicial system and Justice Institute training in enforcement and investigation, or previous experience as a law enforcement officer or an equivalent of education.
