With your building operations and maintenance experience and a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer experiences, you will be responsible for NVRC’s janitorial maintenance, program support and arena, pool and weight room operations for our extensive collection of buildings, related systems and equipment.
As a member of the Maintenance and Engineering Services management team and reporting to the Manager, Maintenance and Engineering, you will develop and implement a work program for all buildings, related systems and equipment; assist with hiring, training and evaluating the performance of Building Services staff and working closely with management for any labour relations issues; plan, schedule, supervise and check the work of a large Building Services team; evaluate, purchase and maintain the supply of janitorial products, pool chemicals and arena supplies; prepare annual operating budget estimates; prepare specifications and standards for work procedures and tasks; establish and maintain liaison with a variety of internal and external contacts; and prepare and maintain a variety of records, schedules, manuals and reports.
Considerable independence of judgment and action is exercised in the performance of assigned duties, while policy matters and unusual or more complex problems are referred to the Manager, who reviews work performance in terms of the effectiveness and efficiency of program delivery and results. In rotation with other members of the Maintenance and Engineering Services management team, you will be on call for emergency building and system issues for a portion of the year.
Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills are required. Your qualifications include a high school diploma supplemented by technical courses, preferably in a diploma program, related to the work performed, plus considerable experience in janitorial maintenance and building operations, including supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence, along with certification as a 5th Class Power Engineer and Pool Operator – Level 2 (CPO) is required.
