The City has until recently relied on a contracted service to provide building inspection services for the City. The City at this time is looking for individuals or corporate entities to provide this service.
The City of Armstrong is actively recruiting part time Building Inspectors for a building inspection service. The service will be provided on a three day per week basis for a level 1 inspector and approximately 5 days per week for a level 3 building inspector.
The job duties of the building inspectors will be plan checking, and inspecting construction to ensure that design, material, workmanship and safety features meet or exceed standards and conform to accepted plan specifications established by the BC Building Code.
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Building Inspectors are responsible to work in a capacity where a high degree of confidentiality, tact and diplomacy are essential. The positions perform a variety of professional tasks, often of a complex and sensitive nature.
Candidates will possess a minimum qualification of level 1 BOABC along with five years experience as a level 1 Building Official in British Columbia. Candidates in possession of a level 3 BOABC certification will also have a minimum of 5 years experience as a level 3 building Official in British Columbia.
