Building Caretaker

The Building Caretaker role is a valued member of the team that supports the owners and residents of Devonshire House (2083 W. 33rd Avenue, Vancouver). Devonshire House is a first class building with 97 apartment units and 5 townhouse units. The owners expect that their investment is secure and well preserved in its physical aspects as they want to be proud of their property. The caretaker is instrumental in ensuring that the shared vision for the property is realized and will work diligently to ensure that day-to-day maintenance and operations meet expected standards.

General duties include:
– Cleaning of interior and exterior common areas
-Managing building recycling and garbage
-Maintenance of recreation facilities
-Minor building repairs (ie. small painting jobs)
-Management of key fobs and other building access needs
-Other duties as assigned

Expected start date: 2020-12-01

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $40,000.00-$50,000.00 per year, based on skills and experience

Schedule:
– (40) hours per week coverage, Monday through Friday (excluding statutory holidays)
– Compensation for overtime when applicable and where authorized by the Strata Manager for after hours, statutory holiday and emergency responses will be paid according to BC Labour Regulations.

Experience: Resident Caretaker: 2 years (Required)

Education: Secondary School (Required)

Licence: Resident Manager (Preferred)

Language: English (Required)

Qualifications:
– Solid work history in any general maintenance, caretaking, or household role
– Janitorial and handyman skills
– Being able to plan and prioritize tasks
– Excellent work ethic
– Honesty
– Sense of responsibility
– Flexibility to deal with unexpected situations
– Previous experience in residential or Strata building
– Some understanding of building mechanical systems
– Basic MS Office software knowledge
– Maintaining a positive and professional relationship with owners and tenants
– Multi-tasking and problem-solving
– Excellent organizational skills
– Good communication skills
