The primary responsibility of the position is to provide Basis support to the City’s SAP systems. The City has a comprehensive suite of SAP applications which includes Suite on HANA 2.0, ECC 6.0, SRM 7.5, Solution Manager 7.2, EP 7.5, PO 7.5, BW 7.5 and other NetWeaver components such as SLD, Web Dispatcher, TREX, and Content Server. The underlying OS-database pairs include both Unix-HANA and Windows-SQL Server. Newer technology offerings such as Process Orchestration, Fiori or UI5 are planned to be added to the SAP landscape. The Basis Analyst will be a key resource in implementing upcoming changes. The SAP environment also has multiple integration points with the various Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) systems.

The successful candidate will perform Basis administration tasks such as system refreshes, client copies, transport management, print and spool administration, batch jobs management, database administration, system check and monitoring, performance tuning, system issue analysis and troubleshooting. The successful candidate will install and configure additional SAP instances and new applications and will be responsible for operational support and maintenance of system software such as version upgrades, support package upgrades, kernel updates and patch applications. The work will be performed in collaboration with various stakeholders such as project managers, SAP functional analysts, developers, QA testers, infrastructure team, network and application (ABAP and Java) security teams and business users. Good interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication skills, are necessary. Must be a team player. Strong interest and ability in learning new technologies is a requirement.

The requirements would typically be met though a university degree in Computer Science or an equivalent program and five or more years of experience as an SAP Basis Analyst. An SAP Basis related certification is a definite asset. Desired types of Basis experience include taking an active role in several large-scale, full-life cycle SAP implementation projects as well as upgrade projects. Experience developing support processes and procedures for production support and sustainment is a plus. The successful candidate should demonstrate skills and experience in executing the responsibilities listed above.
