This role can be performed at any number of Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development office locations in British Columbia; however travel to the Victoria office will be required.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development was created in March 2011 to deliver integrated land management services for British Columbians.  It is the main agency responsible for establishing the policy and conditions for access to and use of the province’s forests, lands and natural resources.

The Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) is responsible in the execution of government’s strategic corporate agenda. The ADM Rural Opportunities, Tenures and Engineering provides overall leadership to the Division and has primary responsibilities that include lands tenures and policy, crown land opportunities, regional economic operations, rural policy and programs, forest service roads – bridge maintenance and infrastructure, resource road policy and legislation, forest tenures and policy, and Ministry Safety Management System.

The ADM establishes and maintains close liaison and effective working relationships with senior representatives of other provincial agencies, other provincial governments, the federal government, industry and resource development businesses, trade unions and business
organizations, agencies regulating natural resource professionals, stakeholder groups, local governments, First Nations, academic institutions and community and environmental interest groups.  
 
The ADM contributes significantly to the province’s international image through talks, publications and other public relations activities regarding management of lands and forest tenures and forest service roads, rural economics and programs and the Ministry Safety Management System. The ADM is also expected to provide expert, strategic advice to the Deputy Minister, the Associate Deputy Minister, the Minister, and where appropriate, the Premier and Cabinet.
