The City of Coquitlam currently has an exciting opportunity for a Civilian Police Services & Finance Manager to complement our Civilian Police Services leadership team. This position is responsible for the management of human and financial resources along with the delivery of support services to the City’s policing services within our community.
Reporting to the Manager Police Services and Operations, the Civilian Police Services and Finance Manager is responsible for a range of management functions important for the effective delivery of services by the Civilian Police Services staff within the Coquitlam RCMP. This position is responsible for financial management including the preparation, reporting, and control of significant municipal budgets and for cyclical financial reviews, reports, and analysis.
In addition, this position manages a group of departmental supervisors and provides ongoing advice and guidance related to recruiting, hiring, training, monitoring and reviewing personnel work performance. The Civilian Police Services and Finance Manager deals with sensitive and confidential labour relations matters including staff discipline.
The ideal candidate will motivate, lead and manage the employee group to ensure the most efficient day-to-day operations and customer service are provided as well as champion change initiatives in line with both City and RCMP Detachment policy and procedures.
The Civilian Police Services and Finance Manager actively participates as a member of Coquitlam RCMP’s Senior Management Team (SMT) and is relied upon for a high degree of independent judgment, initiative, communication skills, and for developing and maintaining professional working relationships with the department’s partners including government officials, other police agencies, and the general public. This position leads and/or delegates committee/project work to its successful conclusion. The ideal candidate will possess an applicable bachelor’s degree supplemented by courses related to human resource management and/or labour relations. A minimum of five years (5-7 years progressive) relevant experience is required at a senior level, managing large budgets and employee performance.
A CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) or other financial designation is preferred.
