The District of Summerland has an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled Building Inspector.  Reporting to the Director of Development Services, the incumbent will perform building plan review and inspections to ensure compliance with the British Columbia Building Code and applicable District Bylaws.

The successful candidate will be part of a team, must exhibit excellent organizational, verbal and written skills, and have the ability to work well with staff, design professionals, contractors, developers and the public.  A thorough knowledge of the current BC Building and Plumbing Codes, Building Bylaws, methods, practices, materials and procedures related to the construction of residential, commercial, institutional, industrial facilities or other structures is required along with:
 

  • A minimum Level II Certification issued by the Building Officials Association of BC (Level III preferred);
  • Minimum Level I certification from the Plumbing Officials Association of BC;
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a field related to building construction or equivalent supplemental courses;
  • Five years of inspection experience;
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License.

This is a fulltime CUPE position and offers a salary range of $39.56 – $41.64 per hour as well as a competitive benefits package and pension.
