Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – however, hours may vary, some evenings and weekends are required

An exciting opportunity exists with Atira Women’s Resource Society for an Assistant to the Director, Communications, Development & Fundraising. Understanding the dynamics of violence against women and children and the intersectionality of oppressions within a feminist framework and being able to apply this understanding in your day-to-day practice is mandatory

The successful candidate will be a forward-thinking change agent with strong professional and personal attributes. Relevant post-secondary education and / or training in combination with a minimum of two years’ experience in office administration. Education and credentials will be valued only as much as work experience.

Primary Accountabilities:
• Provide administrative and scheduling support to the Director of Communications, Development & Fundraising
• Work directly with the Director to design and implement specific short- and long-term goals for the Department
• Execute donor mailings including appeals, renewals and stewardship
• Conducts research, compiles data and prepares papers for consideration
• Assists Director with all Atira events including special, fundraising, internal and third party events
• Plans, organizes and coordinates meetings and prepares agendas and minutes as required
• Assists with data entry, tax receipting and writes thank you letters to donors
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills & Abilities:
• Superior oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent computer skills in word processing, database management, webpage posting and electronic communication software
• Well-developed planning, organizing and time-management skills
• Ability to prioritize
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Comfortable working independently, as well as collaboratively, in a team environment
• Experience working in a fundraising environment is an asset
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task and complete assignments under strict deadlines
